Rest in Peace Chan Boon Leong Francis

At 4am, 23 June 2012 in the National University Hospital of Singapore, my father Chan Boon Leong Francis was called home to the Lord, our God.

The funeral was simple, a 3 day wake in the Catholic church of the Franciscan order, St Mary of the Angels.

His ashes are now interned in the St Mary of the Angels columbarium, niche 2804, facing the statue of St Francis.

I aspire to learn of his simple ability to know when to speak up and when to let things be; the wisdom of which kept arguments at bay. His simple lessons in teaching me how to be useful with my hands in creating and repairing things, in learning the simple pleasures of cooking for myself and for others and most importantly, for having did all he could in raising me as a Roman Catholic, in teaching me my first hymns, guiding me through my first Novena and putting me through the best possible Catholic education. Thank you Dad, you will be dearly missed.

O merciful Father, who hast taught us in thy holy Word that thou dost not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men:
Look with pity upon the sorrows of thy servant for whom our prayers are offered. Remember him, O Lord, in mercy, nourish his soul with patience, comfort him with a sense of thy goodness, lift up thy countenance upon him, and give him peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  1. Hi Nicholas,

You can create a record and tribute for your dad at the portal

I got to know you through the yahoo article. Really happy to hear your story. Have you ever considered helping your Alma Mater, SP, to mentor start ups? I’m sure your experiences and values will be very valuable.

Few years ago, I was mentoring one ex-staff who wanted to start her own business. After she won the YES! grant from SPRING through SP’s help, SP invited me to be part of the Business Advisory Committee. I’ve been helping to evaluate businesses and mentor the entrepreneurs since.

If you are willing to consider, I’ll be happy to let the the Director of SP Innovillage know.

    God bless you, bro!

    • Good day David,

Thank you for making contact with me and thank you for sharing the Book of Lived portal. Knowing my dad, he was happy leading a low key life thus I would keep this tribute low key too.

I have been helping (on an unofficial basis) Jerry Chen of ExpressIn Music for quite a while and a few Singapore Polytechnic graduates applying for the ACE startup scheme; I would be glad to serve, will connect up with you via email to link up.

      God bless!
